One of the most touching developments in the evolution of the Dulaan Project to knit warm goodies for Mongolia was the entry of one Mary Lee. She is a pediatric occupational therapist who decided to engage her learning disabled children in making things for Mongolian children. I marveled at Mary Lee's natural understanding of karma, and shed tears of joy and laughter last year when my Cuzzin Ryan posted this dispatch about the efforts of Mary Lee's "Sweet Peas". This was the moment we all began to gleefully refer to this nation as MongoLEEa. You will too.
Well, Mary Lee has done it again, and this year the hands-down MVP for enthusiasm and the spontaneous poetry of compassion is once again Mr. MongoLEEa, Brother Jacob. You must go see for yourself. You can scroll past the first section. It's very funny, but a little bit "inside baseball". Once you get to that last photo, though -- do you suppose there are two more beautiful faces on this Earth?

I think Jacob has the right idea on the pompoms - makes mine look absolutely puney compared to his super duper ones. And the last picture is the best isn't it?

i've read it, and i think it's wonderful that these kids are able to give, even when they have so little themselves. well, maybe they're all the richer for their simplicity. a rainbow will always be the most beautiful thing in the world to them, without the worries of refraction, and pollution, etc.
beautiful, indeed

I read Ryan's blog too, and had already seen Mary Lee and her kids - but you can't see too much of such beautiful people! Jacob's got me saying "MongoLEEa" now. :)
