Winter is really dying hard here. After a sucker's warm(ish) spell, at 3 this afternoon, it was also 3 outside, struggling up from the overnight low of 29 below. Farenheit. That's made me a bit averse to wandering about too much, plus I got one of those annoying low fevers that makes you achy and listless, but not incapacitated with entertaining hallucinations. You can function, you just don’t much feel like it. You can blog, but don’t expect fireworks.
Now. There’s someone in Nandrin, Belgium, presumably moving freely within its population, who paid a visit to DODR today after googling the following: “floki sex.” I scowled at this a long time, hoping I misread it and someone was actually looking up “floki’s sex” – female, as we all now know – or an old Croatian flame with a cute nickname – “floki’s ex” – or an obscure 60’s revolutionary – “flokise x” – or perhaps a new medication for unblocking clogged arteries – “flokisex” – but no. There it was.
Forsooth, perverse Belgian! Why, just the other day I captured Floki performing the ancient Scamper of Winter Purity rite:
And I also took ones of her in gentle slumber, the very model of innocent youth and natural chast…oh. Oh boy. Um, well, what they hey – give the people what they want:
Miz Floki’s about to be famous in UB, too. I was interviewed last Friday for a piece to run in this Thursday’s Zuunii Medee newspaper. After two missed photography appointments, I insisted the camera dude come to my apartment or forget it. So he did, and I further insisted that he take the pic with my (not so very) little girl in my lap. Hope she smiled. They thought I was a dork, methinks, but I was achy and listless and really didn’t care. At least I bothered to shave.
Only tangentially related to Floki’s cheesecake shot above, Carol in the comments…no, not Hawaii Carol…no, not that Carol, either…Seattle Carol…since Ann Coulter inspired her to come out to all of us, reminded me that I keep meaning to link to one of the braver Mongolian sites on the ‘net. This ain’t exactly a well-understood lifestyle here.
And apropos of nothing, I’m suddenly booked to go to Beijing on Saturday for three days. Ain’t never been there, they tell me it’s nice.

Wow, a Mongol dyke site! They even have movie night once a month. I'll have to see if I can meet up with them and watch a flick while I'm there!
Have fun in Beijing. I've heard it's nice but polluted. But then, having spent a winter in UB you might not notice it!

Wow, Floki's REALLY grown. You can see the "big dog" starting to come out in her.
While it doesn't compare to what you had, we had a little snow in Ohio, and my basset went all snow-spazz too, doing the Scamper of Winter Purity Rite. *grin*
I do love the way puppies sleep, all un-selfconscious and sprawled. I just want to do belly noogies on that pink tummy...
Enjoy China. DH is supposed to be there in September for an acupuncture internship (fingers crossed...)

would you have thought a very short time ago that Floki would be scampering about like that and sleeping so comfortably (well to her anyway) And don't they look so cute together.
Feel better - I know that feeling all too well.

Wow, just look at that little beast! She is gorgeus on the snow.
Bon voyage Konchog! Take care, don't get locked up in communist gulag or something... geez....
Will you let us know weather is your blog blocked in China?

Wow. Floki sex. I just don't know how to explain that.
BTW, do people in Mongolia celebrate New Year for a certain length of time, or celebrate the Lantern Festival two weeks after New Year's Day, as China does? I had the opportunity to go with a group of friends to the Hsi Lai Temple in So Cal on the 4th, and saw it completely decked out for the end of New Year's celebrations and for the Lantern Festival. Stunning! I don't know if other temples tend toward the elaborate as this one does, but it was breath-taking. Most classes there are not taught in English, and, unfortuately, the one class that my friends elected to listen to was rather superficial (with no discredit to the speaker -- I'm sure he had cause to prepare a lecture that stayed on a basic level). My friends, however, loved the speech, so what do I know?
How big is Floki now? I'd peg her for being around 30 pounds. My pup is about that weight and he's only 3 mos., so I'm using him as a visual measuring stick. What a sweet expression she has when she's sleeping or bounding through the snow!
I don't know what three degrees would feel like. I think I may have been in the 20s a few times. No wonder your coffee is so precious to you!

The one time I would say yes to a dog-sitting gig and it has to be in MongoLEEa. figures.
