Let it never be said that New York state's not photogenic. Our host, frequent DODR commenter and old friend Samaya Hart, has the good fortune currently to reside two miles up the road from the Palyul Retreat Center in McDonough. This morning I snapped three pictures in rapid succession that all turned out so surprisingly well I wanted to share them with you (this says more about the inherent beauty of upstate NY than my photography skills). This is the tent where Darisuren and Enkhtsetseg are sleeping and what they wake up to each morning:
Often it feels a bit like Mongolia when we see the small herd of horses grazing in the pasture across the road. Except it's quite a rare day in Mongolia when there's morning mist:
And then this. At about 6:30, just before we left for morning chanting, Samaya said, "Hey Konchog, check out the sun through the trees in the back yard." She was right. It was a vision and I took what feels like one of the nicest pictures I've wrung out of this little camera yet:
Penor Rinpoche's Kalachakra initiation is ongoing and I'll recap it with more photos after I arrive at my mother's in Vermont tomorrow.

Gorgeous shot!

Perhaps you could tell us why Kalacakra initiations are considered so important by many masters nowaday (in comparison with other kinds)?

That second shot needs to be in a frame. Or a book. Or both. Bravo!

WOW! beautiful place for beautiful work. I have been praying along with you. Your site keeps me on the straight and narrow as I have no sangha at the moment. You do wonderful work where ever you are, thank you!
