Well. That’s weird. I thought for sure the previous post would summon a couple of “Hey! Neat-o!” comments. It’s not every day that someone goes to the trouble and expense to arrange a live webcast from the Gobi Desert of the unearthing of some of the greatest trove of Mongolian Buddhist treasures that were concealed with death-defying courage nearly 70 years ago. But I suppose my version of neat-o isn’t everyone’s. Or perhaps you felt it, but didn’t feel like expressing it. That I definitely get, this blog notwithstanding. Ah well, once again I must declare the human heart and mind a nearly impenetrable mystery.
Off in a few hours with me mater to spend five days in “The Heart of Meditation” with Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche. You’re most welcome to chat amongst yourselves, but I’m not packing the laptop and won’t pop back up until five days from now, hopefully a wee bit kinder in my outlook.
Sorry, I definitely thought it was "neato" but didn't have the energy to comment. I've been coping with a nasty summer cold and total lack of energy.
Hope you and your mother have a wonderful retreat.

I thought it was neato, peachy keeno, rad, fab, awesome, bitchin' and E MA HO! But I've been gearing up for another go at Chemo tomorrow, so have not had excess energy. Actually, I think the whole story is fantastic & it was wonderful to meet Altangerel & the others at Tso Pema in '07.

Frankly I am still amazed over here with jaw wide open - so cool!

I went and bookmarked and circled the date in red just like you said, but then I was menaced by many large reptiles and arachnids and relatives (mine, not the creatures') down in SC, so didn't have a chance to comment here. When you're available, I do want to catch up. Love to your mom, and to you too, of course.

Somehow my posts haven't been making it in. I had somehow read of this event prior to you announcement. Of course it's fantastic.
I will try to watch online as it occurs.
It brought tears to my eyes when you mentioned that "Altangerel" means Golden Light. His name seems to be a reference to the Sutra of Golden Light.

Konchog -- I'm more "with-it" today, and checked in at your blog. The little guy takes it out of us and some days... But I just contacted a friend of mine to try to get some people together, maybe ask for a small donation for the D.R. Museum and set up a viewing. I may even announce it at our 10th anniversary event (FOM's) on Sunday. Send me a flyer if you have one and I'll circulate it (for the Germany-based viewing schedule).

Some of us more "with it" digital natives and members of the Facebook Danzan Ravjaa group have known about this forever. Well almost that long.

This is so cool it takes a while to really wrap the mind around it. That..and I just caught up with the last three posts. Looking forward to hearing how you and Ma did...great to read that Mooj and Nita are lovin' life American kicked-back style.

Isn't it amazing what modern technology can do? This is one of the things that balances out the more negative aspects of the internet. Because we are all a part of a large world, a global village, we need to know what's happening in another part of town. As a non-Buddhist, I am thankful to you for expanding my horizons and introducing me to Buddhism and to some of my neighbors that I would otherwise never meet.
Sorry the comment is late, but we have been in Ohio for my mother-in-law's funeral, and I have been incommunicado.
